Microcurrent Q & A

What should I know about microcurrent facials?

Microcurrent treatments use a handheld device to deliver painless, low-energy electrical stimulation to the facial muscles that support your skin. The electrical impulses stimulate the muscles and connective tissues, so they contract and cause an immediate tightening effect.

When you give your clients a series of microcurrent treatments, the muscles strengthen much like your body muscles improve with regular exercise. As a result, your clients get firmer skin, wrinkles smooth away, and their results are long-lasting.

Microcurrent facials trigger beneficial biological responses, including:

  • Increase in blood and lymph circulation
  • Increase in collagen and elastin production
  • Increase in protein synthesis
  • Boost in cellular metabolism and energy

While microcurrent facials produce results all on their own, you can enhance your client’s results by carefully choosing nourishing and corrective skin care products to apply after the facial. Microcurrent treatment allows the active ingredients to penetrate more deeply into the skin.

What should I expect from a microcurrent facial course at Lakeview Aesthetic School?

When you enter the microcurrent facial course at Lakeview Aesthetic School, you receive comprehensive classroom training that covers topics such as:

  • Facial anatomy and how to treat all 32 facial muscles
  • Proper technique for delivering the microcurrent treatment
  • How to evaluate your client’s skin and determine the number of treatments they need
  • How to adjust the energy level and number of pulses for each individual
  • Developing a skin care regimen for patients to follow between microcurrent treatments

We teach you how to screen each patient to be sure they’re good candidates for microcurrent facials. While the treatment is safe for all skin types, clients with pacemakers, metal implants, and certain health conditions should not have a microcurrent facial.
